6-month Paid Internship Opportunity at Belize Bird Rescue

A truly unique opportunity exists for a Belizean National or Resident to join our dynamic NGO dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of all bird species in Belize. Thanks to grant funding from Protected Area Conservation Trust (PACT), we are offering a full-time 6-month paid internship beginning January 6th 2025.

The internship focuses on the care and rehabilitation of the endangered yellow-headed parrots. During the 26-week internship, on-site training will be given in all aspects of avian rehabilitation including handling, medical care, hand-feeding techniques, diet and husbandry, and developing the ability to recognize behaviours which impact the rehabilitation of the yellow-heads and all native parrot species.

The successful candidate will be expected to become an integral part of a small, cohesive and committed team working with all aspects of BBR’s work in multi-species avian rescue and rehabilitation, including record-keeping, managing hotline calls, outreach and social media.

This position includes working long hours in all-weather conditions. You must be truly passionate about birds and have a love for all animals, no exceptions! Applicants should be receptive to training and want to learn every aspect of avian rehabilitation. This internship may lead to permanent employment.

• Passionate about wildlife
• Belizean National or Resident
• English and Spanish speaking
